Thailand’s largest gemstone and jewellery trade fair is less than one month away, with the focus firmly set on celebrating the country’s increasing contribution to the wider international industry.
The 68th edition of the Bangkok Gems and Jewellery Fair will take place from 6-10 September at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.
More than 1,100 exhibitions will occupy 2,400 booths, with more than 30,000 visitors from around the world expected to participate.
Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, director general of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said that it was an event not to be missed.
“The fair serves as a vital trading platform that allows Thai entrepreneurs to meet and negotiate with buyers from around the globe, fostering partnerships, expanding business opportunities, and promoting collaboration,” he said.
“It also serves as a knowledge-sharing and networking hub, playing a pivotal role in driving the country’s economy. Currently, the industry’s supply chain, from production to retail and exports, employs nearly 800,000 people.”
He added: “This event significantly supports jewellery exports and reinforces Thailand’s role as a crucial hub for the global gemstone and jewellery trade.”
In 2022, gemstone and jewellery products – excluding gold – represented the country’s ninth-largest export. In the first half of this year, that figure has increased by 11 per cent.
