Something for everyone at blockbuster Sydney Fair

The International Jewellery Fair (August 19-21) is rapidly approaching and organisers Expertise Events have confirmed an exciting schedule of special events and presentations.

The first 400 visitors each day will receive a ‘to have and to hold’ bridal pen and visitor show bags have been sponsored by AV Diamonds.

The traditional happy hour cocktail party is scheduled to go ahead with free stubby holders distributed courtesy of Paterson Fine Jewellery. The special Winmark wine-tasting session is also sure to be popular, led by former Pandora Australia CEO Karin Adcock.

Events such as the IJF are an important opportunity not only to trade, but also to learn more about the industry in a bid to expand your business.

Publicist Karen Eck will be giving a special presentation titled ‘The Power of Visibility’ and lead a discussion about how to boost the profile of your business is a noisy and competitive environment.

Australian Retail Association director of policy, sustainability, and impact – Jason Robertson – will also host a special presentation.

Nationwide Jewellers managing director Colin Pocklington will lead the ‘What’s My Business Really Worth’ session, detailing the importance of thoroughly understanding the value of your business.

Understanding industry laws and regulations is vital, and Alex Engel – assistant secretary of the transnational crime branch of the Attorney General’s Department – will host a session on proposed reforms to Australia’s anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regime.

Innovation and technical creativity will be in the spotlight at the Sydney Fair, with Arya Opal Cutters hosting a live opal cutting demonstration, while SABA Co will showcase live jewellery making.

As is always the case, special prizes will be up for grabs – with Salt and Pepper Diamonds hosting a contest to win a one-carat diamond.

On the lighter side of things, free caricature drawings for visitors will be created by Sydney cartoonist Brett Bower.

Registration and other information are available at www.jewelleryfair.com.au.
