Named the Argyle Rose and valued at $2 million, Rio Tinto has showcased the latest addition to the Argyle Pink Diamonds jewelry collection.
Designed by WA’s Solid Gold Diamonds, the ring features 3.25-carats of Argyle pink and blue fancy color diamonds encrusted in the shape of a rose, surrounded by white diamonds, and hand-set in platinum and 18-carat gold.
The central attraction of the piece is a rare 1.36-carat, fancy deep pink radiant-cut diamond. It is just one of 12 radiant cut diamonds from the Argyle mine weighing more than one carat with a 1P color grading.
Rio Tinto Minerals chief executive Sinead Kaufman said: “I am delighted to launch the Argyle Rose. Encapsulating a rich history and an extraordinary provenance, it is both a contemporary treasure and an heirloom for tomorrow.”
She added: “These rare and precious diamonds are one and a half billion years old, from one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the world is simply not producing them anymore.”
The piece was created as part of the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner program, a Rio Tinto initiative aimed at preserving the ‘provenance and integrity’ of some of the world’s most desirable diamonds.
Operating in Perth and Adelaide, Solid Gold Diamonds is headed by founder Peter Greene who said: “As a pioneer custodian of Argyle pink fiamonds, it was incredibly humbling to be asked to design a true generational heirloom for the Argyle Pink Diamonds Icon Partner programme. ”
“Solid Gold Diamonds has built a strong partnership with Argyle Pink Diamonds over the past three decades.”
He added: “During this time, we have had the privilege of transforming these precious pink diamonds into coveted jewelery pieces. The Argyle Rose design signifies the pinnacle of our long-standing relationship.”
The Argyle Rose will be available for sale through Solid Gold Diamonds, located in Perth.
