World Jewelery Confederation (CIBJO) president Gaetano Cavalieri recently confirmed the establishment of a ‘CIBJO Academy’ during the 2023 Vicenzaoro January trade show.

The CIBJO Academy will be responsible for preparing and delivering educational programs and materials to jewelry professionals as well as the general public.

This will include routinely updated information on standards, operating principles, and terminologies developed by CIBJO’s many commissions and expert committees.

The academy will be headed by Kenneth Scarratt, a jewelry industry veteran and renowned gemmologist with more than 50 years of experience.

“The goal of the CIBJO Academy will be to make available to the greater jewelery community the massive body of work that is being produced on a constant basis by the commissions and special committees of World Jewelery Confederation, in a way that is easily understood and applicable Scarratt said.

“With new generations of consumers seeking professional guidance, it is vital that all industry members become aware of, and implement, these excellent CIBJO benchmarks.”

Cavalieri said he was delighted that Scarratt accepted the position: “There are few people anywhere more qualified to do the job.”

The Vicenzaoro January trade show concluded on 24 January In northern Itay.

CIBJO was founded in 1961 and is based in Switzerland, with the stated aim of protecting consumer confidence in the global jewelry industry.
