Michael Hill International has paid tribute to iconic Australian rock band INXS by releasing a new silver jewellery collection.
The Michael Hill x INXS Collection draws on the themes of two of the band’s most popular songs, ‘By My Side’ (1990) and ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ (1987). The collection has been created with recycled sterling silver, with some pieces including onyx and black diamond.
Among the pieces is a guitar pick pendant with INXS branding on one side and the band’s star logo on the other. Fans can engrave their chosen band member’s name and signature on the pendant at no additional cost.
Other notable pieces include a dog-tag style necklace featuring INXS branding and a locket featuring the lyrics of By My Side. The same lyrics are also engraved on his and her rings.
Michael Hill’s head of product design, Maria Then, said: “As an iconic band, INXS is a powerhouse. We are so excited to have this incredible opportunity to collaborate with them on the exclusive Michael Hill x INXS collection.
“When we were planning and conceptualising each piece, we wanted to ensure we honoured the band’s stylistic history. We have worked closely with INXS to build our jewellery range, which features an autographed guitar pick pendant that replicates the band’s actual guitar picks, heavy chains with hardware closures, and nods to some of their beautiful lyrics.”
The limited-edition collection is priced between $169 and $599.
INXS was formed in Sydney in 1977 and rose to international stardom championed by lead singer and lyricist Michael Hutchence, selling more than 50 million albums worldwide. After Hutchence’s untimely death in 1997, the band remained active until 2012.
