Mejuri is the latest fine jewellery brand to embrace lab-created diamonds, releasing a new collection featuring 12 pieces.
Mejuri was founded in 2015 by Noura Sakkijha and is based in Toronto, Canada. The new collection features classic styles, including tennis bracelets and necklaces, stud earrings, and solitaire pieces.
While many other brands – such as Pandora – now exclusively sell lab-created diamonds, Mejuri will offer this new collection alongside natural diamond jewellery.
“Mejuri’s expansion into lab-created diamonds is a way to make high-quality diamonds -especially the larger stones – more accessible to our customers without compromising our sustainability efforts,” Sakkijha told Vogue.
“The response to our lab-created sapphires has been overwhelming, and we’re excited to watch this category grow on our platforms and in-store.”
Mejuri launched its lab-created sapphire collection earlier this year. Diamond jewellery accounts for approximately 35 per cent of Mejuri’s sales.
According to the latest analysis from Tenoris, lab-created diamonds enjoyed strong sales in the US in November.
Loose lab-created diamond sales increased by 17 per cent in value and 47 per cent in units sold, while retail prices declined by 20 per cent.
“Lab-created diamonds are continuing to exhibit a growing divergence from natural diamonds,” Edahn Golan explained.
“Sales were up by value and quantity, year-over-year and year-to-date, pricing, and by any other economic measure.”
On a year-on-year comparison, retail revenue increased by 18 per cent, and unit sales spiked by 53 per cent.
