Anticipation building for Hong Kong jewellery fair

Excitement is building for the Jewellery and Gem Asia Hong Kong trade show, which is scheduled to begin on 20 June.

The first of two major jewellery fairs held in Hong Kong by Informa Markets each year, the event returned from a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic in June of last year.

This year’s fair is expected to feature more than 1,700 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, occupying 30 pavilions.

Director of jewellery fairs Celine Lau said buyers will have four days to review and replenish inventory, preparing for a productive year ahead.

“We do more than just connect people with products. We offer fresh content that adds depth and value to the buying experience. After all, people come to JGA to be inspired,” she said.

The fair offers a wide range of collections, including fine jewellery, diamonds, pearls, and colour gemstones and dedicated sections for equipment, packaging, and technology.

New awards show launched

Event organisers plan to go ‘bigger and better’ this year by launching a new competition evaluating sustainability initiatives across the industry.

Known as the Sustainability Awards 2024, an expert panel from the jewellery and gemstone industry will judge the efforts of businesses of all sizes.

There are five categories: environmental stewardship, social empowerment, manufacturing innovation, community engagement and sustainability leadership.

Submissions commenced on 5 February and will close on 30 April.

The Jewellery and Gem Asia Hong Kong fair will be held from 20-23 June at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
