A 22-year-old man in Poland has been charged with theft after allegedly posing as a window mannequin for two hours during a daring burglary.
Authorities in Warsaw claim the man stood motionless in a store window, waiting until a shopping centre closed, before raiding a jewellery kiosk.
In an image released by the police, the man can be seen holding a handbag while posing alongside two genuine mannequins.
“A 22-year-old with a bag in his hand froze motionless, pretending to be a mannequin in front of a shop window,” Polish police said in a statement.
“In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed by the cameras. After closing the shopping mall, the man robbed the jewellery island [kiosk].”
The suspect allegedly committed multiple thefts at the same shopping centre and was arrested after being spotted by security staff.
The man is being held in custody and faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of theft and burglary.
