The Victorian Jewelers and Watchmakers Golf Day is just weeks away and this year there’s a significant cash prize up for grabs in a hole-in-one competition.
The VJGA’s golf day has taken place annually since 1950. This year’s event will be hosted on Tuesday 21 March at the Kingston Heath Golf Club in Cheltenham. Registrations open at 11AM with a 12.30PM tee-off.
Centrestone Jewelery Insurance is the event’s major sponsor and marketing manager Steven Kratsas said the company jumped at the opportunity to support an event with such a rich history.
“We take great pride in supporting Victoria’s jewelry industry and so sponsoring an event like this is a ‘no-brainer’ for us,” he said.
“It’s an event there’s not only a fantastic opportunity for jewelers to meet and discuss the trade, but also create memories that will last a lifetime.
“It’s an event that brings the trade together for a day, whether they’re competitors or associates. Friendships are formed, many memories are made and there’s a strong sense of unity.”
The fifth hole at the Kingston course is a 188-yard par-three. Participants in this year’s event will be given one attempt to sink a hole-in-one, with the first golfer to complete the feat rewarded with $100,000 in prize money.
There is also a gold-plated, diamond-set putter which was first introduced in 1965 up for grabs, as well as other prizes including bags, putters, drivers and golf balls.
The winner will also take home the perpetual trophy, which features an engraving of each winner since 1950.
